Seems like it just happened yesterday when you were born. Exactly today marks your five months of being a baby. Your progress is quite amazing and I also notice your aversion, too.
You have been purely breastfed for 5 months now. I attempted several times to give you formula but you found the taste awful because you spit it out. That's why wherever I go, you always cling to me.
I am a hands-on mom to you, changing your diaper, bathing you, washing your butt when you poop and nursing you even I am working on my laptop. I did the same to your sister when she was a baby like you.

You seem to enjoy bathing so much since you were 1-month old. You cry at the top of your voice whenever I take you out from the bath tub.
When someone entertains you even strangers, you give right away your 150-watt smile, the trait I dearly love.  Unlike your older sister who only smiles to people very close to her. But I don't want to compare you both. I know you are both unique and special in different ways.
You can now turn, roll over, and try to crawl forward. You begin to pull tiny things, too.
You also begin to babble when you hear us talk. You say "aaah-aaah-aaah". I know I have so many things to discover about you as you get older.

Did you know that your sister is jealous of you? She feels like you steal our attention and love that once she owns. She doesn't stop pinching you nor stop teasing you until she hears you cry and I am always there to defend you.  I am hopeful that when the right time comes, you will become good siblings. I believe you will be.

We love you as much as we love your older sister and I hope when you discover this post someday, you will appreciate this, and I know you will.

Love,

Mama

Disclosure: All the opinions expressed are 100% mine.

I mentioned in my previous post about dining at Kuya J.  I kept watching its commercial from TV a couple months ago, endorsed by celebrity actor, Jerico Rosales, and mentally noted to try this new restaurant one of these days. So last Thursday, during my birthday, my family and I went to Kuya J at SM annex, Ecoland to try some of their dishes.

Here's what we ordered and my honest review.
chicken salad with sesame dressing for 150
I was anticipating mainly more chicken meat in the salad but I got surprised when it contained more lettuces than the former.  It was my fault for not reading the description in the menu book anyway. As much as I love vegetable salad,  the taste is not a winner for me. I disliked the crispy pastry wrapper (on top of the lettuce) and the lettuce is a little bitter.
creamy seafood and soup - 150
This soup is too creamy and flavorful. I don't know, but it's hard to please my taste bud now after getting rid of vetsin (msg) each time we cook at home for almost two years now. But don't get discouraged to try this, maybe what is awful for me is tasteful for you.
calamares for 130
No complaint about Calamares. It did taste good!
Grilled Scallops for 165
The grilled scallop is Kuya J's best-seller. The scallop itself is tender and I dearly love its cheese and butter toppings. I almost consumed half of its number. My husband and mother like it very much, too. Of all the dishes we ordered, this one is a champion!

Kuya J Chicken (half) for 200
We first ordered lechon kawali but it sold out fast so we opted to order chicken since Chesska loves it very much. I find their chicken as ordinary as the other chicken out there. Probably, I am just a huge fan of Mang Epoy's litson manok in Puan which is tastier and juicier than Kuya J's.
Cebuano mango cheesecake - 110
For our dessert, I ordered Cebuano mango cheesecake which contains graham, cream cheese, and mango. The cream cheese is yummy but the mango is not as sweet as I expected. The graham at the bottom of the jar is so tough to scoop out with a spoon. Perhaps, it was overly frozen.

If I were to describe their foods, place, price, crew,  and service in one word, it would be:

Foods: GOOD.

Place: CLASSY!

Price: AFFORDABLE.

Service: GREAT.

Crew: ATTENTIVE.

Hello, February! It's a no-brainer, this month is my favorite month of the year. Since I will be turning 35 next week (OMG), and since I want to uncover more about my thoughts, feelings, and myself  myself  (hehe),  I responded to the 34 questions from the blog that I came across online. I just add one more question to make it  35. Ready to know me better? Here we go.

1. What Do You Do For A Living?

On the one hand, I love teaching.  But on the other hand, I want a job that pays more. I have worked as a General Virtual assistant for almost 6 years now.  From Teaching to Virtual Assistant has been a big leap in my career so far.

2. Who Do You Love?

Of course, I love my husband, children, mother, brother, and God.

3. Do You Have Enough Money?

Since I began working online, I could say that I have enough money as compared to my income in teaching. Unlike teaching, I need to allot budget for make-up, daily travel, and foods. Working home-based, on the other hand,  I don't need to commute and groom myself. The great thing is I could work even with messy hair (hehe).

4. Are You Healthy?

It's been two years since I stopped eating pork and sipping soft drinks. I have been a semi-vegetarian for six years now (if my memory is right). So I believe that I am now in the pink of health.

5. Do You Think You Are a Good Person?

I don't want to lift my own chair, but YES I am! I am a kind of person who easily gets affected when I see someone on the street foodless and homeless. I also pity animals maltreated by humans. In other words, I am soft-hearted (charoot).

6. How Old Are You?

I will be turning 35 on the 9th of February. Thank God!

7. Who’s Your Best Friend?

Personally, there are certain criteria to consider someone as "My Bestfriend". One must be truthful, a good listener, and ready to lend her hand without setting any condition.  Yes, I do have plenty of friends but I don't know someone whom I can consider as my best friend at the moment. They don't pass my criteria yet.

8. What’s Your Childhood Dream?

As a kid, I often dreamt of becoming a Civil Engineer but it did not turn into reality. The university that I was in during college days did not offer engineering courses so I ended up choosing an Education course.

9. How Often Do You Laugh?

To be honest, I laugh easily but not as often as during college and teaching days where I was surrounded by friends having a sense of humor. But right now where I am working home-based, I have no one to talk to except my family.  But it doesn't mean they are boring, it so happened that we've been facing lots of responsibilities - taking care of our young children, household chores, and job -  that have caused us to forget laughing, which is not good at all.

10. What Makes You Smile?

Anything that will make me smile.

11. Who’s Your Most Dangerous Enemy?

Someone in authority from our Barangay ( previous address) picked a fight with my family and tried to grab our excess lot after our community got burned.  But seven twelve years has already passed when the incident happened so I already forgave her.

12. Where Do You Live?

I won't give you my exact address but I would say that I am living in a comfortable home with great neighbors and peaceful community.

13. Do You Think You’re Strong?

Of all the ups and downs that I had been through in my life, I considered myself as a strong woman. Roar!

14. What Was The Most Important Thing You’ve Done So Far?

When I quit teaching and decided to work at home as Virtual Assistant to devote my time to my family.

15. What Was The Most Stupid Thing You’ve Done So Far?

When I privately messaged some of Duterte's detractors in Facebook during campaign period telling them to stop spreading lies and defaming our candidate. Eventually, I found out that they were trolls!

16. Do You Love Yourself?

Yes, I do! You cannot give what you don't have. Meaning, you cannot love others if you don't love yourself first.

17. What Do You Fear The Most?

If one of my loved ones dies (knock on wood three times). I am not ready for it.

18. What Is Your Favorite Word?

What's on the top of my head as of the moment is the word "AJA." A Korean term means never give up, or never stop fighting! Whenever there are challenges along the way, I tried my best to never give up.

19. When Was The Last Time You Cried?

Oh, I could barely remember the last time I cried because my husband is not quarrelsome (hehe).  Maybe when I was watching the documentary news and saw a situation something relatable to my experience when I was younger.

20. What Is The Best Thing That Could Happen To You Right Now?

I may win the lottery (lolz).

21. What Is The Worst Thing That Could Happen To You Right Now?

I have been optimistic in life so I am not expecting a worse thing to happen in my life ever. I've always prayed to God to guide me in my endeavors and get me away from troubles and accidents.

22. Picture Yourself In 5 Years From Now

I (we) probably have a brand new car and drive the car myself since I don't know how to drive yet now. Perhaps I have a new, small business. Our savings should have contained more.

23. Do You Regret Anything?

If I could only turn back time especially during college years, I might have corrected the mistakes I had made like making immature decisions in life.  I won't give much the details. Well. That's why there's a word called "REGRET."

24. What’s The First Thing You Do In The Morning?

Drinking lots and lots of water.

25. What Are You Thinking Just Before Going To Bed?

A lot of things are actually spinning on my head before going to bed like thinking about the future of my children, talking to God to help me raise my children to become good persons,  or what if out of the blue I won the lottery and how would I divide the money.

26. What Was The Highest Point You’ve Ever Been To?

The highest point that I've ever been to so far when I climbed 200-step stairs just to see the chocolate hills 360 degrees in Bohol.

27. If There’s One Thing In Your Life You Want To Change Right Now, What Is It?

Lack of self-confidence by not believing my potential.

28. What Are You Proud Of?

My life had not been a bed of roses as a kid. I proudly finished school with my own effort and successfully got a job which makes my life far better than before. Of course, I couldn't have done that without my husband's help.

29. Sum Up Your Life In One Sentence

I am a versatile woman who is ready to do anything for the welfare of my family and children.

30. Name The Thing That Annoys You The Most

When I see clutters in the house and no one was mindful to clean them up. And when I am distracted by the noise outside while I am in the midst of work doing something very important.

31. What Is Your No 1 Question To God?

Why are there poor and rich?

32. Do You Have Secrets?

It is no longer a secret if I will tell you (hehe). Don't get me wrong - I only share secrets with people whom I trust 100% such as my husband.  Apologies.

33. What Makes You Laugh?

Funny movies. Funny chit-chat. Funny things. Anything that is funny will make me laugh easily.

34. Are You Happy?

Definitely, I am.

35. What is the most significant change you've seen in the world in the last 10 years?

This question was asked to Ms. Maxine Medina during the Ms. Universe pageant held last Monday that drew lots of reactions from social media. At that moment when the question was asked, what's in my head was like this.

The significant change I've seen in the world in the last ten years is the fast evolution of social media where people of different races around the world can easily communicate, express their thoughts, share, and receive information which, if used properly, are advantageous to make their life better and more convenient. That's all thank you! hehe

I know birthday leave is not a valid reason in some companies. Unless you have a generous employer like mine who always grants whatever you ask for. However, I didn't tell her the main reason why I have to be absent today unless she will stumble upon this post. But one thing for sure, she won't get angry.

The primary reason behind my leave is just simply I want to feel the moment of my natal day. Life has been stressful for the past weeks, juggling online job and looking after my two kids, trying paying attention equally. I came to realize that being a WAHM (work-at-home mom) is not always beautiful. I feel like I am always drained even before I start the day. So I resolve to take a break and enjoy my birthday. I say with conviction, I DESERVE A BREAK!

via: https://www.pinterest.com/explore/35th-birthday

Here are the happy things I will be doing today to help me release my stress and at the same time make my day more fun.

1. Go to Church and Pray

Personally, life seems incomplete and unhappy without thanking God who is the provider of life and everything. Each year, during my birthday,  I always go to church and thank God for another year of life He has bestowed upon me. I also pray to bless me with long, fruitful life and pink of health so I can continue serving Him and the people who need me.

2. Go Out and Dine with My Family

I often celebrate my birthday at home, and it takes extra effort and time to prepare foods and other stuff.  At this time around, I like to spend time with my family and go to a decent restaurant to dine. Eating is obviously my pleasure. Speaking of a restaurant, I want to try Kuya J since I have been watching its commercial from TV. I keep telling myself to dine there one of these days.

3. Gift Myself Something Nice

I must confess, shopping is my stress reliever. But ever since I became a mom, I am always on a tight budget. So I can't help but just drool over the dress displays at the mall.   But just for one day, today, I want to buy something nice for myself. Dress has always been my obsession and maybe I will buy one later.

Aside from a family weekend getaway, it's actually a birthday treat for myself.

I had been wanting for a road trip in Buda before due to its cold weather all year round - in fact, the folks there called it a little Baguio - but I always feared that our old and cranky car could hardly maneuver the steepness of the road. But when our new car, Toyota Vios, arrived a couple of weeks ago and finally replaced our old model car, KIA, we chose Buda for a test drive.

But before we went to Buda, we first researched online what places we would be going. We scratched off Seagull Resort because we'd been there two years ago. Also, we installed a GPS on our tablet so we wouldn't get lost however it lost its function.  So here's what we did, aside from our mental notes,  whenever we passed by any resort, we got off and explored the place. Here are the places we visited.

1.  Golden Gate Resort

It wasn't mainly on our list but when we asked the folks there from Marahan, a place where passengers got off from the bus to eat, they pointed us to Golden Gate Resort. Nothing so really special about the resort because it is currently "work in progress" status.  But what is new to us is the hanging bridge where my family and I were having fun trekking and taking pictures.

Entrance: 10 pesos
Pool: 30 pesos

2. Benwa Farm

After Golden Gate resort, our next visit was Benwa Farm. This resort is highly popular there due to its organic farming of lettuce, herbs, and strawberries.  I noticed an influx of tourists from different places, taking pictures and enjoying the cold weather. Since the entrance fee is consumable, I exchanged my tickets with two bags of fresh lettuce for 100 pesos and strawberry jam for 100 pesos also. So affordable!

Entrance: 50 pesos/ consumable

3. Highway 81

If we had just decided to stay overnight in Buda, I would have chosen Highway 81. Though they don't have so much amenities to offer except the classy cafe, I dearly love the ambiance and the serenity of the place. It is called Highway 81 because it is 81 kilometers far from the heart of Davao city (just correct me if I am wrong.)

Entrance fee: none

4. Adrian and Alice Place

One of the trademarks of this resort is the big shoe structure. Some of their plants were planted in boots and shoes. Since it was already 11:00 am, in time for lunch, we got off to this place to eat. Also, Chesska was so eager to swim, so we allowed her to bathe while the rest of the gang was just resting and making chika in one of there rental houses, just nearby the swimming pool.

Entrance: 20 pesos
Pool: 100 pesos

5. Reel Place

Right across the Adrian and Alice Place, is the Reel Place resort. We were supposed to eat here but no one entertained us so we moved to Adrian and Alice Place. Sceneries are as the same as the previous ones I mentioned so we found it already boring.

Entrance: 20 pesos
Pool: 50 pesos

The gang
You will never get bored when in Buda. As a matter of fact,  lots of resorts have been sprouting there so a one-day trip is not enough in order for you to round all of them.  We're supposed to go to Cloud 99 and Highway 88 but they don't offer a day-tour and prior reservation is required. Anyway, we are planning to visit again Buda, making sure to go some other places we haven't been over the weekend.

Life is here!, is our city's slogan that every Dabawenyo is very proud to say. Living in Davao for over two decades, I have witnessed through my naked eyes how our city has boomed in terms of economics, education, and tourism. And talking about tourism, the first thing that often enters our minds are the tourist destinations that are nice to visit. If ever you would ask my two cents, I would definitely recommend the places listed below.

Here, I have compiled a list of 9 best places my family and I have visited:

1. Davao Eden Garden and Nature Park Resort

I clearly remember when I first explored this place. I got nervous while traveling way up the hill as the road was very steep. But when we got there, my nervousness vanished right away as I was calmed down by the cold breeze gently kissing my skin, tall pine trees dancing with the wind, and the sweet smell of the different flowers. Some of the things that I cherished the most were the horseback riding, botanical garden tour,  early-morning trekking, and mouth-watering foods. Click to learn more.

2. Seagull Mountain Resort in Buda

Seagull is located in Marilog District, known as little Baguio of Davao, which is a perfect destination for your family this coming summer season.  I absolutely enjoyed watching and hearing the waterfalls as the water pounded the rocks. One thing I couldn't forget about Seagull was when we were terribly shaking while taking a dip in the ice-cold swimming pool. Click to learn more.

3. Japanese Tunnel Family Resort

If you opt for historical sites, you may want to consider Japanese tunnel in your trip when in Davao. I literally went inside the tunnel and discovered replicas of Golde Budha, Japanese soldiers, golden bars, and the cage where the Filipino soldiers got imprisoned during World War II.  My fur stood upon hearing the story of the tour guide of how the Filipino soldiers died there. But there's more than the tunnel that the resort has to offer.  They have a hotel, restaurant, and swimming pool too where you can indulge after your tunnel adventure. Click to learn more here.

4. Malagos Garden resort

Don't you ever miss a Kalesa ride that will bring you around the Malagos garden resort?  Plus you've got a chance to interact with the birds during Interactive Bird Show which is held every Sunday. You will be filled with tons of information, especially about how to take care of our mother nature. When going home, don't forget to buy their best-seller chocolates as they themselves manufacture the said product made from quality cacao beans harvested directly from their farm.  Click to learn more here.

5. Villa de Mercedes Resort

Situated at 535 feet above sea level, you will be delightfully greeted by the hypnotic view of Davao Gulf and Davao city that instantly eases away your stress and worries caused by working so hard and meeting numerous responsibilities from home. I was fascinated by the view of their infinity pool as if connected to the sea, the picture-perfect landscape, and most of all the serenity of the place that can help soothe your body and mind. Everything was really amazing! Click to learn more here.

6. Crocodile Park

I am quite certain that your tots will surely love crocodile park as what my 3-year-old had experienced then. The said place is not mainly raising a hundred crocodiles, but housing exotic animals too that we've only seen for the first time. I  suggest you visit the park beginning at 3:00 pm so you would see an array of shows including bird shows, tiger climb, crocodile feeding, and other fun-filled activities you and your child will totally enjoy. Click to learn more.

7. Rancho Palos Verdes Sports and Country Club Resort

After your crocodile adventure, head straight to Ranchos Palos Verdes Club resort to get refreshed by their beach-typed swimming pool and enjoy their buy-one-take-one pizza. The resort is just five minutes walk from the crocodile park. If you are a member of the club, you will enjoy the lifetime use of the swimming pool and other amenities such as billiards, lawn tennis, badminton, etc. Click to learn more.

8. Paradise Island

If you want to go further the boundary of Davao city and look for a great beach to escape to, I would highly recommend Paradise Island (it's already part of Davao del Norte, at least still Davao,  lol...) for it boasts its fine white sand and clear blue water. A trip to Paradise is never complete without trying their numerous water sports activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, banana boat riding, island hopping,  and most of all scuba diving. Click to learn more.

9. Camp Holiday Beach Resort

Still, nothing beats the beaches of Davao. Much like Paradise Island, Camp Holiday has fine white sand and clear blue water, too. It is a must-visit beach resort for those who want to escape from a hustle and bustle of city life. Click to learn more.

It's safe to say that I've been to more than 10 places in Davao but I just failed to document them due to my super hectic schedule (hehe), but I promise to add more to this list as soon as I go into an adventure again as you know I am an adventurous gal with itchy feet who constantly craves for travel. Well, thanks for reading.
